This is one of Haoting’s graduate level project. It an independent project that started in January, 2020 and finished on March 2020.

Solution

The goal of this project was to spot potential flaws of an existing toy in the market. Then, improve the toy by redesigning it. Haoting focused on the flying toy during this project.

Most low-priced (below $30) flying toys have lurking problems such as exposed propeller, flight stability, and other issues that could potentially harm the players.

Based on the situation of existing flying toy in the market, Haoting planned and executed a targeted solution to redesign and upgrade the toy.

After extensive market research and comparison, Haoting selected this particular flying toy to redesign. Based on the experiments with this toy, the problems found are the exposed propeller which is a safety hazard to users. Additionally, there is no controller to control the flying direction of this toy. Finally, it has no supporting platforms and must rely on human hands to take off and land, otherwise it would smash onto the ground.

The redesigning process focused on safety, support and aapearance upgrades. Due to time limitation, the flight control system could not be upgraded as of now.
